Employee Assistance Programmes:

Why is EAP usage so low?

Lack of anonymity

Lots of barriers

Legal loopholes
How come usage is so much higher with Spill than an EAP?
Hear from the companies who've switched to Spill
What kind of mental health support works for your team?
We'd probably have questions too.
Yes and no.
Yes, in that Spill is a service providing mental health support to companies: you can't get Spill as an individual.
No, in that Spill is so different to an EAP — for all the reasons outlined on this page, from usage stats to ease of access to quality of care to proactiveness — that we'd prefer not to call ourselves one.
Yes. But it's also better value. EAPs typically cost around £1 per employee per month, but as only between 2 and 5% of employees access their mental health support in a year, they're actually quite expensive if you look at the cost on a per-session-used basis.
Spill is typically used by 50% of employees in a year. That means up to 25 times as many people get support vs. an EAP. Spill is more expensive, yes, but it's not 25 times more expensive. See how much Spill would cost for your company on our pricing page.
EAPs are great for bigger companies and for those that only want to offer support to a small subsection of the team. Because Spill helps everyone — from those who are struggling with diagnosed mental health conditions to those just having an off day — we view ourselves as providing 'all in one' mental health support. In most companies we work with, therefore, we replace their EAP rather than sit alongside it.
No! You shouldn't have to wait months in order to make sure your team has access to mental health support they can actually benefit from. Just book a demo and someone at Spill might be able to get you a discount until your EAP contract finishes.
Absolutely not! Our mantra at Spill is that some help is always better than none, which is why we'll never turn anyone away because of a previous or current diagnosis. If someone comes to a Spill session with an acute mental health condition, the Spill therapist will use their available sessions in the most beneficial way possible, before making a comprehensive aftercare plan with them to ensure they can get more support elsewhere, whether that's from local community services or by writing a letter to their GP.
Yes, your company does need Slack or MS Teams.
Part of the reason so many people use (and love) Spill is that it can be accessed through an everyday work tool. No logins and passwords for users; no nagging from the People team required; no hunting for a phone number when you want to access mental health support.
All the therapists on Spill are fully accredited and have at least 200 hours of clinical experience. But Spill isn't just a platform that links you with qualified therapists: we have a pretty intense five-stage hiring process that currently only 5% of therapist applicants make it through. That technically makes it harder for a therapist to get into Spill than it does for a student with top A-Level grades to get into Oxford, as Oxford accepts 17.5% of the best applicants. In short: we take the quality of therapy at Spill very seriously.
Yes. We work with over 500 companies, many of which are based around Europe, the U.S., Asia and Australia. Spill therapy sessions are available in multiple languages and across different timezones.
English, French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Dutch, Greek, Russian, Ukrainian and Hebrew.
No problem! Just book a demo and someone at Spill can answer anything else on your mind.
Take a (very) well-deserved break!
