Better feedback insights from Spill

We’ve added a new feedback section to the Spill admin app, so administrators can track average scores and view comments left for them. We only include feedback your team has explicitly opted in to sharing, so you can be sure that confidentiality is never compromised and anything you read was deliberately shared.

Bereavement support

You can now offer more flexible and specialised support to people on your team who have experienced a recent bereavement. Support is delivered by a bereavement specialist and sessions can be pre-scheduled around potentially difficult moments like the holidays and anniversaries.

Accessing Spill from a personal device

Anyone booking therapy can now add their personal email address to sessions, making it easier to log in and join sessions when away from their work devices. They’ll receive all booking confirmation and reminder emails there, and be able to log in from any phone or computer.

Advice Library

Advice Library allows employees to browse over 200 commonly asked questions and answers from Spill therapists in one place, with immediate insight into a wide variety of topics from fertility to sleep. It's available to all companies on our Team Plans from today.

Here is an example question and answer on sleeping better.

Stress is really affecting my sleep at the moment. Do you have any guidance on how to move on?

The first thing I need to tell you is that this is a temporary problem that you will get through. One of the reasons we fall into poor patterns of sleep is by telling ourselves that we are poor sleepers.

Next, make a list of the things that are causing you stress and identify any that you could take action to address. Do what you can to deal with them, even if it feels uncomfortable. That will help your mind to calm down.

A couple of hours before you go to bed each night, write a list of the things that are on your mind. These might be tasks you have the next day, things you feel worried about, or even things that already happened that have had an impact on you. Spend a few minutes thinking about your list and let the emotions sit with you without pushing them away.

When you do go to bed those same thoughts might come swirling around in the small hours but you will have already taken some of the power from them by writing them down and thinking about them.

If you do wake in the night don’t panic. Tell yourself, “It’s OK, I’m going through a stressful time but I will be alright. I might be tired tomorrow but I can tolerate it.” Don’t say, “I must get back to sleep,” because that will ensure you can’t because the anxiety releases adrenaline and with that coursing around your body sleep becomes impossible, creates more anxiety and so it goes on in a dispiriting loop.

If you find yourself lying awake staring at the ceiling get up and do something relaxing until you feel sleepy again. Read a book or listen to a podcast.

Finally, if you have been finding that you are waking at 3am every morning recently remove all clocks and methods of telling the time from your view. Your unconscious mind will easily create habits but if it can’t see the time it it will make those habits harder to build.

30+ new specialisms now available when booking therapy

We've added the ability to select from 40 counsellor specialisms when booking an appointment. You're able to select from focuses such as Fertility Issues or Addiction and only see availability for Spill Therapists who have a specialism with that specific focus.

Values-based matching (trial stage)

Employees booking a course of therapy now have the option to opt-in to our trial of values based matching.

Values-based matching matches people with therapists based on the research that having shared values is the biggest factor contributing to a successful therapist/client relationship. Employees fill out five questions about themselves, we then match them to the therapist that has the most shared values.

This feature is in its trial stage. We will be matching people with therapists based on shared values over the next few months and measuring the success.

25 minute sessions for people with neurodiversity

Spill therapists can now choose to book employees in for 25 minute sessions as part of a course as well as 50 minute sessions. This change allows therapists who are working with neurodivergent clients to offer sessions where clients find it easier to focus throughout.

In a course of six sessions therapy this would increase the number of sessions to 12. If the client and the therapist agree to the shorter session length all upcoming appointments will reflect a shorter session length.

Pay privately

Employees now have the option to pay privately for Spill once they reach their session limit. Sessions are priced at the same price as their company workspace pays and allows employees who are unable to request more sessions and want to enter into long term therapy on Spill to sign up and continue with the same therapist through Spill on a longer term basis. When their session cap renews they will be able to use those sessions to continue speaking with the same therapist.

Feedback for therapists

Therapists can now see their feedback from their clients on their dashboard. We are initially showing whether clients felt heard and understood. By asking clients if they felt heard and understood by their therapist after their first session and sharing the answer with their therapist we allow therapists to know how well they're connecting with clients at the start of the relationship.

Pre-session details

We've improved our counsellor portal. Now, all of the information therapists need to know about the person they're having therapy with is now available instantly in their dashboard, so there is less time used during the session on information that could be shared up front. Our therapists also have all of the relevant company information to hand, such as what plan they're on and how many sessions they can access.

Pay-as-you-go plan launched

We've added a new plan allowing companies to pay only for the sessions that have beenused in the past month. This is now available to all customers and you can change plans within the app.

Individual allowance

Admins are now able to configure the maximum number of sessions each employee can have on Spill. We have built this feature with a lot of care, allowing employees to request more sessions through Spill if they need extra support once they reach their cap. It is also much clearer to employees how many sessions they have used vs their cap.

Company budgets

We have added the ability to set a maximum number of sessions for people in your company to use each year. Spill gives you a recommendation based on your number of employees but you can choose to set the maximum number of sessions a year wherever you would like. Maximum sessions cover consultations, therapy sessions as part of a course, one-off sessions and Ask a Therapist questions.

We will let you know when your team uses 80% of your maximum number of sessions for the year in case you want to make any changes at this point. This maximum resets every year.

Upcoming and past sessions redesign

Our upcoming session cards have been re-designed to make it clearer when and where your upcoming session will be.

The ability to cancel and reschedule has also been added to all upcoming sessions allowing people to find a better time that works for them up to 24 hours before the session starts if something unexpectedly comes up.

Gender and focus filters on the booking page

People booking sessions now have the option to filter based on the gender they'd like their therapist to be and by the specialism they'd like their therapist to have.

This is available for all session types. People can still also select their previous therapist which naturally overrides these filters.

HIPPA compliant video calls

All video therapy sessions are now held on Spill hosted video software. This allows us to monitor session uptime and connection statistics and session analytics such as participant join time.
