PAM Wellbeing EAP overview

PAM Wellbeing (branded PAM Wellness since merging with ToHealth in 2024) is the wellbeing and EAP arm of PAM Group, one of the UK's largest occupational health providers: 1,500+ client organisations covering over 1.5 million employees, with strong public sector presence including Network Rail and Glasgow City Council.

Its EAP, PAM Assist, is a 24/7 telephone service where calls are answered by professional counsellors rather than call handlers, and its wellbeing arm earns an unusually strong 4.7 on Trustpilot, driven largely by named coaches whose sessions reviewers describe as transformative.

One big flag for buyers: in 2026 Optima Health agreed to acquire PAM Group for around £100 million, so ownership, branding and integration are in flux.

Counselling on PAM Wellbeing

PAM Assist offers in-the-moment support plus structured short-term counselling of up to six sessions per issue, delivered face to face, by phone or secure video, with day-one access confirmed in client documentation. Financial, legal and health information specialists sit on the same line.

PAM also sells six-session wellbeing coaching and neurodiversity and ADHD coaching, which generate most of its five-star reviews; neurodivergent employees describe the coaching as a critical lifeline.

Digital access moved to the Champion Health platform from August 2025, replacing the dated PAM Assist app, a change communicated mid-contract to clients.

Integrations

No workplace tool integrations. The differentiator is integration with PAM Group's occupational health machine: OH assessments, absence management, physiotherapy, health screening and neurodiversity workplace needs assessments, including DfE and Access to Work linked work.

Confidentiality

Standard EAP confidentiality with counsellors bound by professional codes. Note that reviews of the group's occupational health arm dispute report fairness, a separate service from the EAP but the same parent.

Extras

Student and Member Assistance Programmes, neurodiversity coaching and awareness training, wellbeing training and webinars, and the Champion Health app covering mental, physical, financial and social wellbeing.

Best reviews for PAM Wellbeing

Outstanding coaches

Reviewers name individual coaches across dozens of 2026 reviews, describing sessions as transformative, personalised and safe, with neurodiversity coaching singled out repeatedly.

Lasting toolkits

The six-session format repeatedly leaves users with practical strategies they keep using after the programme ends, for work and personal life.

Rosa was absolutely fantastic
Speaking to someone who could listen, acknowledge and I could trust to be open meant allot and her advice, strategy's and understanding both in my mental health and my work will likely stick with me forever.

Pam wellness coaching sessions
Sadia's support and coaching techniques put my own goal setting at the heart of the sessions. I went into the experience hoping to develop skills to support myself and my coach delivered this.

Bad reviews for PAM Wellbeing

Distrusted OH assessments

On the group's other profiles (PAM Group at 2.0, PAM Health at 1.6), employees describe rushed assessments and reports they felt skewed toward the employer. The wellbeing arm's 4.7 sits in sharp contrast.

Unresponsiveness

Some reviewers report unanswered enquiries and long delays, including seven weeks without a report, at odds with the company's wellbeing values.

Go elsewhere for works assessments
The assesment was to quick to fit into a hour and felt rushed. Do I think that the person understood my needs in such a quick session no I do not. Did they understand my job? No.

Don't live their values
You'd think an organisation that seeks to promote wellness or address anxiety would understand how folk are impacted when companies aren't bothered to respond. A case of another firm that doesn't live its values.

In Summary

PAM Wellbeing is one of the stronger traditional options: counsellor-answered phones, day-one access, genuinely loved coaching, and a 4.7 Trustpilot score that most helpline EAPs would envy.

The caveats are structural. The EAP is still a capped six-session phone model, the brilliant coaching that drives the reviews is often a separately sold service rather than the core EAP, and the group around it (OH arm at 2.0 on Trustpilot, pending £100 million acquisition by Optima) creates uncertainty about what the service looks like in two years.

Buyers should ask precisely which services their quote includes and what the Optima acquisition means for their contract.

How PAM Wellbeing compares to Spill

PAM's best moments come from individual coaches people love. Spill makes that quality the default: every counsellor is BACP-registered and drawn from the top 5 percent of applicants, and instead of a capped six-session course routed by phone, employees get unlimited therapy booked in one click inside Slack or MS Teams, usually for the same day.

Structurally, PAM is a six-session phone EAP inside a group being acquired by Optima; Spill is an independent, therapy-first product on a rolling 30 day contract from £75 a month, with published pricing, no exit fees, and setup measured in hours.

Choose PAM Wellbeing if you already buy PAM occupational health and want wellbeing coaching from the same supplier. Choose Spill if you want unlimited therapy at consistent quality, without acquisition-era uncertainty.
