Spill's employee assistance programme (EAP) for tech companies
Tech moves fast and expects people to keep up: shipping deadlines, on-call rotas, constant change, and a culture where struggling quietly is easy. Spill was built by a startup, for startups and scale-ups, and it lives inside the tools your team already uses. Employees book a therapist in Slack or Teams and talk the same day.
Same day counselling sessions
Rolling 30 day contract
Unlimited access from £75 per month

Proudly supporting tech companies across the UK

The always-on cost of building things fast
Tech work carries distinct psychological hazards: long hours at screens, high cognitive demand, rapid change and constant connectivity. The pressure falls hardest on lower-autonomy roles, and a culture that prizes output can make it hard for anyone to admit they're struggling.
Technicians at risk
IT technicians have more than twice the odds of anxiety or depression compared with IT managers. (UK Biobank study, 2022)
Half plan to quit
52% of developers plan to leave their current job within a year, with pay the top reason. (CodinGame & CoderPad, 2023)
High turnover
The tech and communications sector sees around 35% staff turnover a year, above the UK average. (CIPD / ONS, 2024)
Happy teams ship better products
With sector turnover around 35% and half of developers open to leaving, a benefit people actually use is one of the cheapest retention levers you have. Spill's usage runs far above the 3 to 5% typical of helpline EAPs.
Make resilience part of the culture
Give people tools for stress, imposter syndrome and always-on pressure.
Ship with clearer heads
Supported teams focus better, collaborate better and burn out less.
Cut burnout before it bites
Same-day support catches problems while they're still small.
All-in-one EAP for your team
Unlimited counselling sessions
Book a therapist directly from Slack or Teams and talk the same day, about burnout, imposter syndrome or anything else. No waiting lists, no phone menus, no forms, and sessions run into the evening and at weekends.

Self-guided wellbeing resources
A library of practical, evidence-based resources written by licensed therapists who understand the unique pressures tech workers face. Covering over 200 topics from burnout prevention to imposter syndrome and sleep, our online resources can be accessed at any time. They're a great first step for anyone who's not quite ready to speak to a counsellor directly.
Expert guidance and training
Practical, therapist-led training workshops designed to empower staff to spot mental health presentations within nurseries, schools and universities and know how to appropriately respond. Teachers can also check in with a Spill safeguarding clinician for advice at any time.

FAQs
For a tech team, the best EAP is one that lives where your team already works. Spill runs inside Slack and Microsoft Teams: employees book a session in a few clicks and speak to a qualified therapist the same day. It's the UK's highest rated EAP on Trustpilot, with unlimited sessions from £75 a month on a rolling 30 day contract, and it scales from a 5-person startup to hundreds of employees. Tech companies like Typeform, PostHog and Citymapper use Spill. Traditional helpline EAPs cost less per head, but they cap sessions at 6 to 8 a year and route staff through a phone line, which is why usage tends to sit at 3 to 5%.
Spill starts at £75 per month for your whole team, on a rolling 30 day contract you can cancel with 30 days' notice. For a 50-person startup that works out at £1.50 per employee per month, including unlimited counselling sessions. There's no enterprise sales cycle either: you can be live in Slack or Teams within days. To get a tailored quote, book a free 30 minute demo.
An EAP for tech is a confidential mental health and wellbeing service that companies provide to employees. A tech-focused EAP (like Spill) should fit how modern teams work: accessible in Slack and Teams, fast, and stigma-free. Spill provides same-day counselling, self-guided resources and manager training, with no waiting lists or phone helplines.
Long hours at screens, high cognitive load, constant change and an always-on culture all take a toll. A UK Biobank study found the risk concentrates in lower-autonomy technician roles. In fast-growing companies, the pressure to ship can make it hard for people to admit when they're burning out.
With around 35% annual turnover in the sector and over half of developers eyeing the exit, retention is costly. Spill gives your team confidential, unlimited support delivered in Slack and Teams. It's a benefit employees actually use, and that's linked to greater satisfaction and longer tenure.
Yes. Spill was purpose-built for startups and scale-ups, and supports hundreds of small companies. Pricing starts from £75 per month on a 30 day rolling contract, with no minimum staff number, so even a small team gets enterprise-grade mental health support. You can be up and running within days.
Yes. Spill's counselling is available the same day, including evenings and weekends, because plenty of people don't work standard office hours. Our therapists are available from as early as 7am GMT to as late as 9:30pm GMT, 7 days a week, with no health assessments, waiting lists or call-backs. Employees can access support via SMS, Slack, Microsoft Teams or email and book from their phone in a few clicks.
Spill offers therapy sessions in 15+ languages, so your team can speak freely with a counsellor that understands them best. Employees choose their preferred language from a drop-down when they book a session. We currently cover Armenian, Croatian, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Igbo, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Slovenian, Spanish, Tagalog and Ukrainian. We're adding to this list all the time, so let us know if you have a request.
Yes, Spill operates in compliance with GDPR and UK data protection law. Spill is fully secure and therapy sessions are strictly confidential. Video sessions run on an end-to-end encrypted service and all messages to and from therapists are secure. We share aggregate usage data with the company (the number of people who have used Spill) but never names. Slack and MS Teams are only portals used to sign in to our confidential platform. No session content is ever visible to them, to Spill, or to your company.
