Vita Health Group EAP overview

Vita Health Group (formerly RehabWorks) is a UK healthcare provider owned by Spire Healthcare, which bought it for £74 million in October 2023. It is a genuine hybrid: 14 NHS integrated care board contracts, NHS Talking Therapies services in 9 areas, insurer work for AXA, Aviva and Bupa, and an EAP claiming 750+ organisations and 30+ years of delivery.

The EAP is a traditional 24/7 telephone-first service with structured counselling on top, sitting alongside an unusual strength in physical health: occupational physiotherapy, ergonomics and functional restoration under the same roof.

Its public review profile is difficult: 1.5 on Trustpilot from 77 reviews, with the NHS and insurer-referred pathways generating most of the criticism.

Counselling on Vita Health Group

Employees ring the confidential 24/7 line for immediate support and are routed to trained professionals. Structured counselling is delivered face to face, by telephone or video, alongside guided self-help and computerised CBT; session numbers are set per contract rather than published. It also runs a Day 1 Intervention for Stress service and a management support line for referring managers.

Care is delivered by an in-house workforce of CBT therapists, counsellors and psychological wellbeing practitioners. Reviewers who complete treatment often praise the therapy itself as effective and even life-changing.

Getting to treatment is the problem the reviews describe: an Aviva-referred user reported three months without starting treatment (July 2026), files closed after one missed call, cancelled assessments, and allegations that trainees are sometimes used without disclosure.

Integrations

No workplace tool integrations. Vita's differentiator is combining mental health with physical health: occupational physio, ergonomic and DSE assessments and corporate physio sit alongside counselling, with referral routes into Spire's private hospitals.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality is stated as absolute except for risk of harm, safeguarding or criminal disclosure. A July 2026 Trustpilot review alleges a subject access request was mishandled; that is a reviewer allegation, not a regulatory finding.

Extras

Health and wellbeing training, a digital wellbeing portal, plus legal, life management and debt information within the EAP. Vita publishes outcome stats, including that 95 percent of EAP users report improved emotional health.

Best reviews for Vita Health Group

Effective therapy once accessed

Reviewers who complete treatment praise the CBT itself, with several saying it transformed their anxiety within weeks and left lasting tools.

Skilled individual clinicians

Named therapists and physios get warm reviews for attentiveness and knowledge, including younger patients recommending the service to peers.

Try them yourself, fantastic experience
I began CBT therapy for Generalised Anxiety Disorder and I have to say, I could not have been more wrong about how successful the treatment is and how quickly it works.

Attended therapy as private patient
CBT was incredibly useful to me as it provided management tools that i continue to use even after having had all of my sessions. I am 17 and I had made a great connection to my therapist, I would highly recommend this method of therapy to other teens.

Bad reviews for Vita Health Group

Long waits and cancellations

2025 and 2026 reviews describe months without treatment after insurer referral, repeatedly cancelled assessments, and NHS waits reported at up to a year.

Chaotic admin and communication

No-reply emails, unknown-number calls, files closed after one missed call, and complaints answered with process timelines rather than fixes.

Worst service I have experienced
I was referred to Vita through my Aviva health insurance to access mental health support. It had been three months, and I still haven't started treatment through Vita. I repeatedly had to chase updates, research therapists myself after being told none could be found.

Trainees used without disclosure
Vitaminds - AVOID this service. They give you trainee's without disclosure, then try to cover that fact up. Terrible service.

In Summary

Vita Health Group is clinically serious: an in-house therapy workforce, NHS-grade governance, CQC regulation and real strength where mental and physical health overlap, which suits employers with musculoskeletal risk as well as stress risk.

But the access layer is where EAPs live or die, and Vita's reviews are dominated by waits, cancellations and admin chaos across its NHS and insurer pathways. A 1.5 Trustpilot score for a company this size is hard to explain away, even allowing for the fact that unhappy NHS patients are loud.

If you are buying, contract for response times and ask what proportion of EAP counselling is delivered by fully qualified rather than trainee staff.

How Vita Health Group compares to Spill

Vita brings NHS-scale clinical governance, but its reviews are dominated by the wait: months between referral and treatment. Spill closes that gap to hours: employees book their own sessions in one click from Slack or MS Teams and are usually talking to a BACP-registered counsellor the same day, with unlimited sessions rather than a contract cap.

Vita suits complex cases where physio, occupational health and therapy interlock. For the far more common case, someone struggling who needs to talk this week, Spill is built for speed, at published pricing from £75 a month on a rolling 30 day contract you can leave any month.

Choose Vita Health Group if you need integrated physical and mental health provision under clinical governance. Choose Spill if your priority is unlimited therapy that starts the same day someone asks, every time.
