Spill's employee assistance programme (EAP) for community development charities
Community development promises long-term change, but the day-to-day is short-term pressure: stretched budgets, complex needs on every doorstep and funders asking for outcomes yesterday. Your team holds all of it together, often without anyone holding them. Spill gives community teams unlimited same-day therapy for £75 a month, bookable in the tools they already use, with no lock-in.
Same day counselling sessions
Rolling 30 day contract
Unlimited access from £75 per month

Proudly supporting community development teams across the UK

The pressure behind local change
Regeneration work means juggling complex community needs on stretched budgets while proving outcomes to funders, and every departure costs local relationships that took years to build. It drives people out: charity sector turnover runs at around 18% a year, among the highest of any sector (XpertHR, 2022).
Rising burnout
30% of UK charities reported a rise in staff burnout or exhaustion over the past year. (Pro Bono Economics / NTU, 2023)
Unmanageable workloads
Only 36% of charity workers feel their workload is achievable, down from 53% in 2019. (Charity Well, 2025)
Planning to leave
60% of charity workers plan to change job within the next year. (CharityJob Pay & Retention Report, 2024)
Support that strengthens your community work
Community work is built on relationships, and relationships depend on your staff staying well and staying put. Investing in their mental health protects continuity with residents and gives funders confidence in your delivery.
Build emotional resilience
Give staff tools to manage workload stress and the emotional demands of the role.
More energy for the work that matters
When personal struggles are supported, people show up fully for pupils, students and causes.
Fewer stress-related absences
Early, unlimited support catches problems before they become long-term leave.

FAQs
Judge an EAP by what your team will actually use: counsellors who understand burnout and heavy casework, a price defensible to trustees and funders, and no 2 to 5 year lock-in. Spill scores well on each. It's the UK's highest rated EAP on Trustpilot, with unlimited sessions, same-day availability and therapists from the top 5% of registered counsellors, available 7am to 9:30pm, seven days a week, in 15+ languages. It's £75 a month for the whole team, rolling monthly, and over 30,000 employees are covered. Cheaper helpline EAPs will undercut that, but their 6 to 8 session caps and call centre model typically see 3 to 5% usage, so the saving is mostly an illusion.
Spill is £75 a month for the whole team. For a regeneration organisation with 30 staff, that's £2.50 per person per month for unlimited counselling and same-day availability. On a rolling 30 day contract with no lock-in, it's a cost you can defend to any board or funder. Book a demo to see how quickly your team could be live.
An EAP is confidential mental health support that the charity funds for its staff. For community development teams, it's a place to take the weight of complex casework, budget pressure and outcome targets. Spill gives everyone unlimited counselling sessions with same-day availability, booked through Slack, MS Teams, SMS or email, in 15+ languages.
Working with complex community needs on a stretched budget means constantly triaging, and outcome pressure adds a layer of scrutiny to already difficult work. The strain feeds attrition: charity sector turnover runs at around 18% a year, among the highest of any sector (XpertHR, 2022). Accessible therapy helps your team manage the load before it becomes a resignation.
Yes. Small local regeneration charities are a natural fit for Spill. No minimum team size, £75 a month for the whole team, setup in days, and a rolling 30 day contract you can cancel with 30 days' notice. Everyone gets the same unlimited support.
The charity sector has one of the highest turnover rates of any sector, at around 18% a year. Spill gives staff confidential, unlimited support that makes them feel genuinely cared for, which is linked to greater job satisfaction and longer tenure. That keeps the people who power your mission.
Yes. Spill's counselling is available the same day, including evenings and weekends, because plenty of people don't work standard office hours. Our therapists are available from as early as 7am GMT to as late as 9:30pm GMT, 7 days a week, with no health assessments, waiting lists or call-backs. Employees can access support via SMS, Slack, Microsoft Teams or email and book from their phone in a few clicks.
Spill offers therapy sessions in 15+ languages, so your team can speak freely with a counsellor that understands them best. Employees choose their preferred language from a drop-down when they book a session. We currently cover Armenian, Croatian, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Igbo, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Slovenian, Spanish, Tagalog and Ukrainian. We're adding to this list all the time, so let us know if you have a request.
Yes, Spill operates in compliance with GDPR and UK data protection law. Spill is fully secure and therapy sessions are strictly confidential. Video sessions run on an end-to-end encrypted service and all messages to and from therapists are secure. We share aggregate usage data with the company (the number of people who have used Spill) but never names. Slack and MS Teams are only portals used to sign in to our confidential platform. No session content is ever visible to them, to Spill, or to your company.
