Spill's employee assistance programme (EAP) for environmental charities
Your team is trying to protect the planet's future, but the work often costs them their own peace of mind. Climate anxiety, policy wins that take years, campaigns that end in setbacks: it's a recipe for burnout among people who care deeply. Spill gives environmental teams unlimited same-day therapy with counsellors who understand burnout, so caring about the climate doesn't have to mean running on empty.
Same day counselling sessions
Rolling 30 day contract
Unlimited access from £75 per month

Proudly supporting environmental charity teams across the UK

Why climate work wears people down
Climate work combines urgency with slowness: the stakes feel existential, but policy wins take years and setbacks are constant. Retention suffers across the sector too, with charity turnover running at around 18% a year, among the highest of any sector (XpertHR, 2022).
Rising burnout
30% of UK charities reported a rise in staff burnout or exhaustion over the past year. (Pro Bono Economics / NTU, 2023)
Unmanageable workloads
Only 36% of charity workers feel their workload is achievable, down from 53% in 2019. (Charity Well, 2025)
Planning to leave
60% of charity workers plan to change job within the next year. (CharityJob Pay & Retention Report, 2024)
Sustainable support for sustainability teams
The climate movement needs its best people in it for the long haul. Proper mental health support helps your campaigners, scientists and organisers stay effective and stay put, instead of burning bright and burning out.
Build emotional resilience
Give staff tools to manage workload stress and the emotional demands of the role.
More energy for the work that matters
When personal struggles are supported, people show up fully for pupils, students and causes.

FAQs
Judge an EAP on three things: counsellors who genuinely understand burnout and vicarious distress, a cost you can defend to trustees, and freedom from multi-year lock-ins. Spill scores on all of them. It's the UK's highest rated EAP on Trustpilot, with unlimited sessions, same-day availability and therapists from the top 5% of registered counsellors, available 7am to 9:30pm, seven days a week, in 15+ languages. It's £75 a month for the whole team, rolling monthly, and over 30,000 employees are covered. Traditional helpline EAPs cost less, but 6 to 8 session caps and phone call centres mean only 3 to 5% of staff ever use them.
Spill is £75 a month for the whole team. For a conservation organisation with 25 staff, that's £3 per person per month for unlimited counselling, same-day availability and the top 5% of registered counsellors. With a rolling 30 day contract and no lock-in, it's a simple line to justify to your board. Book a demo to see how quickly you could be live.
An EAP is confidential, employer-funded mental health support for your team. For environmental charities, it gives campaigners and researchers somewhere to take climate anxiety, campaign setbacks and burnout before they become resignation letters. With Spill, everyone gets unlimited counselling sessions, bookable through Slack, MS Teams, SMS or email, often for the same day.
Climate anxiety is an occupational hazard when the science is your day job, and slow policy wins mean the finish line keeps moving. That grind pushes people out: charity sector turnover runs at around 18% a year, among the highest of any sector (XpertHR, 2022). Therapy gives your team a way to process the work and pace themselves for it.
Yes. Small grassroots environmental groups use Spill alongside big names. There's no minimum team size, it's £75 a month for the whole team, and you can be up and running in days. The rolling 30 day contract means no long commitment, and you can cancel with 30 days' notice.
The charity sector has one of the highest turnover rates of any sector, at around 18% a year. Spill gives staff confidential, unlimited support that makes them feel genuinely cared for, which is linked to greater job satisfaction and longer tenure. That keeps the people who power your mission.
Yes. Spill's counselling is available the same day, including evenings and weekends, because plenty of people don't work standard office hours. Our therapists are available from as early as 7am GMT to as late as 9:30pm GMT, 7 days a week, with no health assessments, waiting lists or call-backs. Employees can access support via SMS, Slack, Microsoft Teams or email and book from their phone in a few clicks.
Spill offers therapy sessions in 15+ languages, so your team can speak freely with a counsellor that understands them best. Employees choose their preferred language from a drop-down when they book a session. We currently cover Armenian, Croatian, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Igbo, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Slovenian, Spanish, Tagalog and Ukrainian. We're adding to this list all the time, so let us know if you have a request.
Yes, Spill operates in compliance with GDPR and UK data protection law. Spill is fully secure and therapy sessions are strictly confidential. Video sessions run on an end-to-end encrypted service and all messages to and from therapists are secure. We share aggregate usage data with the company (the number of people who have used Spill) but never names. Slack and MS Teams are only portals used to sign in to our confidential platform. No session content is ever visible to them, to Spill, or to your company.
