Spill's employee assistance programme (EAP) for insurance
Insurance is sold as protection, but the people providing it get very little themselves. Claims handlers hear about house fires, car crashes and worse every single day, while regulation and process targets pile up behind them. Spill gives insurance teams same-day therapy that's completely confidential, with no referral step and no names shared, for £75 a month across the whole team.
Same day counselling sessions
Rolling 30 day contract
Unlimited access from £75 per month

Proudly supporting insurance teams across the UK

Why insurance work wears people down
74% of chartered accountants reported some form of burnout in the past year (caba / ICAEW, 2024), and insurance teams face pressures that finance's numbers only hint at: repeated exposure to distressing claims, heavy regulatory load and processes that never slow down. Hearing about the worst day of someone's life is a job in itself.
Widespread burnout
74% of chartered accountants reported some form of burnout in the past year. (caba / ICAEW, 2024)
Depression diagnosed
32% of chartered accountants have been diagnosed with or self-identified depression. (caba, 2024)
Rethinking careers
41% say burnout has made them consider changing careers or leaving the profession. (caba, 2024)
The business case for supporting claims teams
Claims exposure drives absence and attrition faster than most insurers track. Spill keeps handlers supported and on the phones, protects the quality of customer conversations, and helps you keep experienced people you'd struggle to replace.

Help your people manage deadline pressure and perfectionism without burning out.
Protect focus and judgement
Clear heads make better decisions for clients, especially in high-stakes weeks.
Reduce quiet absence

FAQs
For insurance teams, the best EAP needs three things. True confidentiality first: claims handlers won't discuss what they're carrying if there's a referral step or a manager sign-off, so Spill has neither, and employers only see aggregate data. Specialist matching second: someone processing distressing claims needs a therapist experienced in that kind of exposure, and Spill matches from the top 5% of counsellors. No caps third: six sessions is rarely enough for cumulative strain, and Spill sessions are unlimited and usually same-day. Marshmallow, Superscript and By Miles all use Spill, the UK's highest rated EAP on Trustpilot. A traditional helpline EAP looks cheap, but with call centres and 6 to 8 session caps, usage typically sits at 3 to 5%.
Spill costs £75 a month for the whole team. For a 25-person claims team, that's £3 per person per month, covering unlimited same-day sessions rather than a capped helpline. The contract rolls monthly, so there's no 2 to 5 year lock-in and no setup fee. Book a demo and we'll show you exactly how it would work for your team.
Spill puts a therapist within reach of everyone in your company. Sessions are bookable through Slack, MS Teams, SMS or email, often for the same day, with counsellors from the top 5% available 7am to 9:30pm GMT, seven days a week, in 15+ languages. Nobody at work knows who has used it: there's no referral step, and usage data is aggregate only.
Claims work means secondhand exposure to accidents, illness and loss, and that accumulates. Add regulatory pressure and process targets, and it's little wonder 74% of chartered accountants in the wider finance sector reported burnout in the past year (caba / ICAEW, 2024). Spill gives handlers somewhere to put what they've heard, the same day they need to, before it turns into absence or resignation.
Yes. Boutique brokers and small insurers use Spill just as much as the big names. There's no minimum team size, the whole thing launches in days, and £75 a month covers everyone. The rolling 30 day contract means small firms aren't locked into anything.
Turnover in financial and insurance activities runs at around 27% a year, and burnout is a leading driver. Spill gives staff confidential, unlimited support that makes them feel genuinely cared for, which is linked to greater job satisfaction and longer tenure.
Yes. Spill's counselling is available the same day, including evenings and weekends, because plenty of people don't work standard office hours. Our therapists are available from as early as 7am GMT to as late as 9:30pm GMT, 7 days a week, with no health assessments, waiting lists or call-backs. Employees can access support via SMS, Slack, Microsoft Teams or email and book from their phone in a few clicks.
Spill offers therapy sessions in 15+ languages, so your team can speak freely with a counsellor that understands them best. Employees choose their preferred language from a drop-down when they book a session. We currently cover Armenian, Croatian, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Igbo, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Slovenian, Spanish, Tagalog and Ukrainian. We're adding to this list all the time, so let us know if you have a request.
Yes, Spill operates in compliance with GDPR and UK data protection law. Spill is fully secure and therapy sessions are strictly confidential. Video sessions run on an end-to-end encrypted service and all messages to and from therapists are secure. We share aggregate usage data with the company (the number of people who have used Spill) but never names. Slack and MS Teams are only portals used to sign in to our confidential platform. No session content is ever visible to them, to Spill, or to your company.
