Spill's employee assistance programme (EAP) for live-in & personal care
Living in someone else's home, you're never quite off duty. Live-in carers work alone, the line between work and life blurs by design, and there's no colleague in the next room to talk things through with. Spill puts a therapist within reach the same day, bookable by SMS or email from wherever they're working, with specialists in burnout and compassion fatigue, from £75 a month for the whole team.
Same day counselling sessions
Rolling 30 day contract
Unlimited access from £75 per month

Proudly supporting live-in carers across the UK

Alone in someone else's home, around the clock
61% of carers worry about their finances and struggle to make ends meet. For live-in carers, money worries arrive on top of everything else: isolation in a client's home, boundaries that blur by the nature of the job, and lone working with nobody nearby to share the load.
Compassion fatigue
60% of care staff have experienced burnout or emotional exhaustion.
Boundary challenges
57% of carers feel overwhelmed because they can't switch off from work.
Financial pressures
61% of carers worry about their finances and struggle to make ends meet.
Support that reaches carers wherever they work
A carer who can speak to a therapist from a client's spare room feels less alone in the work. Supported carers stay with your agency longer, which means fewer disrupted placements and steadier care for clients.
Protect against compassion fatigue
Help staff process the emotional weight of caring for others before it turns into exhaustion.
Keep minds on the job
Supported staff have more attention and patience for the people who depend on them.
Reduce mental health sick days
Same-day support helps issues get dealt with early, before they become absence.
All-in-one EAP for your team
Unlimited counselling sessions
A confidential space for carers to process grief, compassion fatigue or just a hard week, with a therapist who specialises in exactly that. Same-day sessions fit around shifts and nights, with no waiting lists, call backs or forms.

Self-guided wellbeing resources
A library of practical, evidence-based resources written by licensed therapists who understand the unique pressures care workers face. Covering over 200 topics from burnout prevention to compassion fatigue and grief, our online resources can be accessed at any time. They're a great first step for anyone who's not quite ready to speak to a counsellor directly.
Expert guidance and training
Practical, therapist-led training workshops designed to empower staff to spot mental health presentations within nurseries, schools and universities and know how to appropriately respond. Teachers can also check in with a Spill safeguarding clinician for advice at any time.

FAQs
For live-in and domiciliary care, the best EAP has to reach people who work alone, far from any office. That means booking by SMS or email, appointments available early mornings, evenings and weekends, counsellors who understand isolation and compassion fatigue, and no caps or exclusions. Spill offers unlimited same-day sessions from 7am to 9:30pm, seven days a week, bookable by SMS, email, Slack or MS Teams, with counsellors in the top 5% nationally and support in more than 15 languages. It's the UK's highest rated EAP on Trustpilot, used by Elder and liftedcare. Traditional helpline EAPs cost less, but their 6 to 8 session caps, call centres and severe-case exclusions produce usage of just 3 to 5%, and lone workers deserve better odds than that.
Spill is £75 a month for the whole team, on a rolling 30 day contract. For an agency with 12 carers, that's £6.25 per person per month, with unlimited therapy and same-day booking included for every one of them. No caps, no exclusions, no lock-in. Book a demo and we'll show you how carers use it from a placement.
An EAP gives your carers confidential therapy paid for by the agency. Spill was designed to work without an office: carers book unlimited sessions by SMS or email, as well as Slack or MS Teams, usually for the same day. Counsellors are in the top 5% nationally, with specialisms in burnout and compassion fatigue, and sessions run 7am to 9:30pm, seven days a week, in more than 15 languages.
Live-in care isolates people in a way few jobs do. The client's home is the workplace, boundaries blur because they have to, and there's no staffroom to decompress in. Meanwhile, 61% of carers worry about their finances and struggle to make ends meet, so the stress rarely has one single source. Therapy that arrives the same day, wherever a carer happens to be, keeps that pressure from quietly compounding.
Yes. Small agencies and independent providers are a natural fit. There's no minimum team size, £75 a month covers every carer on your books, and setup takes days. The rolling 30 day contract means you can offer real support without committing beyond the month.
The care sector sees turnover of around 25% a year, and poor mental health is a major driver. Spill gives staff confidential, professional support that makes them feel genuinely cared for, which research links to greater job satisfaction and longer tenure. That helps you hold on to experienced carers.
Yes. Spill's counselling is available the same day, including evenings and weekends, because plenty of people don't work standard office hours. Our therapists are available from as early as 7am GMT to as late as 9:30pm GMT, 7 days a week, with no health assessments, waiting lists or call-backs. Employees can access support via SMS, Slack, Microsoft Teams or email and book from their phone in a few clicks.
Spill offers therapy sessions in 15+ languages, so your team can speak freely with a counsellor that understands them best. Employees choose their preferred language from a drop-down when they book a session. We currently cover Armenian, Croatian, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Igbo, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Slovenian, Spanish, Tagalog and Ukrainian. We're adding to this list all the time, so let us know if you have a request.
Yes, Spill operates in compliance with GDPR and UK data protection law. Spill is fully secure and therapy sessions are strictly confidential. Video sessions run on an end-to-end encrypted service and all messages to and from therapists are secure. We share aggregate usage data with the company (the number of people who have used Spill) but never names. Slack and MS Teams are only portals used to sign in to our confidential platform. No session content is ever visible to them, to Spill, or to your company.
