Spill's employee assistance programme (EAP) for mental health charities
There's a strange irony in mental health work: the people answering crisis lines and holding others through their worst days often have nowhere to take their own. Crisis-line exposure and constant emotional load add up, shift after shift. Spill gives your team the same quality of care they give everyone else: unlimited therapy, same-day availability, and counsellors who specialise in vicarious trauma and burnout.
Same day counselling sessions
Rolling 30 day contract
Unlimited access from £75 per month

Proudly supporting mental health charity teams across the UK

When the supporters go unsupported
Crisis work concentrates emotional load: every shift can include someone's worst day, and the residue accumulates. Meanwhile the sector loses people fast, with charity turnover running at around 18% a year, among the highest of any sector (XpertHR, 2022).
Rising burnout
30% of UK charities reported a rise in staff burnout or exhaustion over the past year. (Pro Bono Economics / NTU, 2023)
Unmanageable workloads
Only 36% of charity workers feel their workload is achievable, down from 53% in 2019. (Charity Well, 2025)
Planning to leave
60% of charity workers plan to change job within the next year. (CharityJob Pay & Retention Report, 2024)
Give your team what they give others
Your credibility rests on practising what you campaign for. Supporting your own staff's mental health properly keeps experienced listeners on your lines, protects service quality and shows funders and trustees that your values start at home.
Build emotional resilience
Give staff tools to manage workload stress and the emotional demands of the role.
More energy for the work that matters
When personal struggles are supported, people show up fully for pupils, students and causes.
Fewer stress-related absences
Early, unlimited support catches problems before they become long-term leave.
All-in-one EAP for your team
Unlimited counselling sessions
A confidential space for staff to process the emotional weight of the mission, from vicarious trauma to plain exhaustion, with a fully qualified therapist. Same-day availability, with no waiting lists, call backs or forms.

Self-guided wellbeing resources
A library of practical, evidence-based resources written by licensed therapists who understand the unique pressures charity workers face. Covering over 200 topics from burnout prevention to vicarious trauma and financial wellbeing, our online resources can be accessed at any time. They're a great first step for anyone who's not quite ready to speak to a counsellor directly.
Expert guidance and training

FAQs
Mental health charities tend to be the toughest judges of an EAP, and rightly so. Look for counsellors with real specialisms in vicarious trauma and burnout, pricing you can defend to trustees, and no 2 to 5 year lock-in. Spill delivers: it's the UK's highest rated EAP on Trustpilot, with unlimited sessions, same-day availability and therapists from the top 5% of registered counsellors, working 7am to 9:30pm, seven days a week. It's £75 a month for the whole team on a rolling 30 day contract. Cheaper helpline EAPs exist, but you'll recognise their limits immediately: 6 to 8 session caps, call centre triage and usage of just 3 to 5%.
Spill is £75 a month for your whole team. For a crisis support charity with 20 staff, that's £3.75 per person per month for unlimited counselling and same-day availability. It's a rolling 30 day contract, so there's no long commitment, and the per-person maths is easy to defend to a board. Book a demo to see the platform your team would use.
An EAP is employer-funded, confidential therapy for your staff, separate from the services you run. That separation matters: your team needs somewhere that isn't their own organisation to process crisis-line exposure and emotional load. Spill provides unlimited sessions with independent counsellors, bookable through Slack, MS Teams, SMS or email, usually with same-day availability.
Holding space for people in crisis takes real skill and real energy, and without an outlet the emotional load builds into burnout or numbness. Retention shows the cost: charity sector turnover runs at around 18% a year, among the highest of any sector (XpertHR, 2022). Independent, unlimited therapy gives your team a place to decompress that isn't a colleague or a debrief.
Yes. Small wellbeing and crisis charities use Spill without any minimum team size. It's £75 a month for the whole team, live within days, and the rolling 30 day contract means you're never locked in. Cancel any time with 30 days' notice.
The charity sector has one of the highest turnover rates of any sector, at around 18% a year. Spill gives staff confidential, unlimited support that makes them feel genuinely cared for, which is linked to greater job satisfaction and longer tenure. That keeps the people who power your mission.
Yes. Spill's counselling is available the same day, including evenings and weekends, because plenty of people don't work standard office hours. Our therapists are available from as early as 7am GMT to as late as 9:30pm GMT, 7 days a week, with no health assessments, waiting lists or call-backs. Employees can access support via SMS, Slack, Microsoft Teams or email and book from their phone in a few clicks.
Spill offers therapy sessions in 15+ languages, so your team can speak freely with a counsellor that understands them best. Employees choose their preferred language from a drop-down when they book a session. We currently cover Armenian, Croatian, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Igbo, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Slovenian, Spanish, Tagalog and Ukrainian. We're adding to this list all the time, so let us know if you have a request.
Yes, Spill operates in compliance with GDPR and UK data protection law. Spill is fully secure and therapy sessions are strictly confidential. Video sessions run on an end-to-end encrypted service and all messages to and from therapists are secure. We share aggregate usage data with the company (the number of people who have used Spill) but never names. Slack and MS Teams are only portals used to sign in to our confidential platform. No session content is ever visible to them, to Spill, or to your company.
